Thanks to the kindness and generosity of a parishioner, we are pleased December 27-28 to give all our parish households (one book per household, please) a very special gift. Matthew Kelly is the founder of The Dynamic Catholic Institute whose mission is to re-energize the Catholic Church in America by developing world-class resources that inspire people to rediscover the genius of Catholicism. We call all those who serve in a liturgical ministry to come to an evening of prayer and reflection and spend some time reviewing how you can improve your specific ministry. This event is for ministers of communion, lectors, ushers & greeters, music ministry and adult altar servers. It is also open to all parishioners, especially those who would like to spend some time in prayer with us and for those who have been praying about whether the Lord is calling you to serve. We will discuss important procedures to follow so it is very important that EVERY parishioner who serves at weekend Mass is present for this event....

Going to Mass with Children

Posted on December 04, 2014 in: General News

Going to Mass with young children can be challenging, to put it nicely. Despite that, going to Mass with young children is worth it. It’s not meant for fun or entertainment or even relaxation. Sometimes Mass is Calvary and sometimes it’s the Resurrection. The catch is that you don’t get to pick. You just have to try and accept it for what it is. Download the "Mass with Children" document below for Basic Strategies for Survival at Mass with Young Children. For more tips on this issue, click here and download the file below.

Last weekend, November 29-30, all our parishioners received a flier with information about the With Grateful Hearts Campaign that took place over the past five years. St. Elizabeth reached 70% of the goal, a good percentage indeed and one for which we are most grateful. But we did not reach our goal with badly needed funds for our parish and our Diocese. With your bulletin you also received an envelope to complete your pldge, make a new pledge or make a donation to help the cause. Won't you please use that envelope and help us reach our goal? MAHALO.  Download the file below to see a note addressed to pari...

We are so grateful to the Young Adult Music Ministry at our Sunday 5:00pm Mass. They lead us in powerful prayer-song that leads us to open our hearts to the grace and power of the Mass.  We need you now ... We are currently appealing to our young adult parishioners to be a part of the ministry by joining the choir each Sunday. If you play an instrument, all the better.  The choir also seeks someone who can lead the weekly practice and the ministry each Sunday. Here's a powerful way for you to bring yourself and your fellow parishioners closer to Jesus. Interested? Pray on it - then give Fathe...

Pray Daily for Vocations! This logo is adapted from the logo and theme used across the U.S., "Wake Up" which calls all the faithful to a fuller consecrated way of living. The ultimate stewardship is to respond to the call of a vocation to the priesthood or to a religious vocation. "E Ho'ola Hou I Ka Ho'ola'a Poni" refers to the sacred time of the dawning of the a new day when the first royal purple light breaks through the darkness. Traditionally, it was a time to anoint, to make new. We are all called during the Year of Consecrated Life (November 30, 2014 to February 2, 2016...

Hurricane Preparedness

You are not obligated to come to Mass if you do not feel safe during a storm! What you need to know! Hastory has proven it.  Be aware when a Hurricane Watch or a Hurricane Warning is issued. I believe we can all agree about the importance of youth ministry in our community. Our youth are so very precious. They deserve all the attention we can give them, especially when it comes to their physical and spiritual wellbeing. Parents already know about the great responsibility they have to teach the faith to their children, primarily by the way they live our Catholic faith … be at Sunday Mass, receive the sacraments often, pray together as a family, read a few verses of the Bible each day to learn more and more about our God who loves us so much through His Son Jesus, our Savior, and the Holy Spirit of God wh...

Stewardship is based on the spiritual principles of the Old Testament and the teachings of Jesus.  As Catholics, realizing all that we have is a gift from God, we are encouraged to reflect on our blessings, enhance them and share them with others. By giving of ourselves and helping those around us, we are practicing Christian stewardship. In 1992, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops brought attention to this principal when they published Stewardship: A Disciple’s Response (U.S. Bishops' Pastoral Letter). Looking beyond financial contributions alone, this document encourages Catholics to ...
