“When he celebrates the sacrament of Penance, the priest is fulfilling the ministry of the Good Shepherd who seeks the lost sheep, of the Good Samaritan who binds up wounds, of the Father who awaits the prodigal son and welcomes him on his return, and of the just and impartial judge whose judgment is both just and merciful. The priest is the sign and the instrument of God's merciful love for the sinner.” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1465)
The Sacrament of Reconciliation (Penance and Confession) is a profound encounter with the infinite mercy of God. Through this sacrament, those who have sinned after Baptism are reconciled with God and His Church, receive the forgiveness of sins, and are restored to the grace and peace of Christ.
The celebration of this sacrament includes contrition (sincere sorrow for sin), confession of sins to a priest, absolution imparted by the priest in the person of Christ, and the fulfillment of the assigned penance. Through the ministry of the priest, Jesus continues His saving work, offering healing, forgiveness, and the strength to live a renewed Christian life.
Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you." And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained." --John 20:21-23
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is celebrated every Saturday at 9:00 a.m. in our parish confessional.
The confessional is located inside the church at the third door on your right as you enter.
If you are unable to attend our regularly scheduled confession time, individual appointments may be arranged through the parish office.
