"The reception of the sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace. For 'by the sacrament of Confirmation, [the baptized] are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed.'" — Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1285
The Sacrament of Confirmation is the completion of Baptismal grace and one of the three Sacraments of Christian Initiation, together with Baptism and the Holy Eucharist. Through the gift of the Holy Spirit, Confirmation strengthens us to live as faithful disciples of Jesus Christ, deepens our union with Him and His Church, and equips us to boldly proclaim and defend the Catholic faith through our words and actions.
Through Confirmation, the gifts of the Holy Spirit are strengthened within us, enabling us to participate more fully in the life and mission of the Church. As confirmed Catholics, we are called to be courageous witnesses of Christ, sharing His love and truth in our homes, schools, workplaces, and communities.
The ordinary age for receiving Confirmation begins at seven years old, commonly known as the Age of Reason or Age of Discretion, when a child is considered capable of understanding the faith and receiving the sacraments with proper preparation.
"Now when the apostles at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent to them Peter and John, who came down and prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit; for it had not yet fallen on any of them, but they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then they laid their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit." — Acts 8:14–17
Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation is an important journey of faith that helps candidates deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ and grow in the life of the Church. All candidates participate in age-appropriate faith formation before receiving the sacrament. These programs prepare individuals for receiving all initiation sacraments (baptism, holy communion, & Confirmation).
Children preparing for Confirmation are invited to enroll in our Religious Education Sacramental Preparation Program.

Middle school youth preparing for Confirmation participate in our EDGE Youth Ministry, where they continue growing in their Catholic faith while preparing to receive the sacrament.

Adults who have been baptized but have not yet received the Sacrament of Confirmation are invited to prepare through the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA). This process offers formation in the Catholic faith and preparation for receiving the Sacraments of Initiation.
