All the priests who serve in the Honolulu Diocese will be away from their parish for their annual retreat January 12-16. In our parish. Father James Peak, an army chaplain currently assigned to Fairbanks, Alaska will be in our parish to celebrate our morning Masses while Father Joe and Father Arnold are away on retreat.  Please pray for all our priests during their retreat. It is a wonderful opportunity for them to be spiritually refreshed and renewed so they can continue their ministry with grace and vigor.

The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity (USA) begins Saturday, January 18, 2015.  Bishop Larry Silva is hosting an “Hour of Taize Prayer Around the Cross” on Oahu with other Ecumenical/Denominational Christian groups Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. at the Newman Center/Holy Spirit Parish (UH). We call all those who serve in a liturgical ministry to come to an evening of prayer and reflection and spend some time reviewing how you can improve your specific ministry. This event is for ministers of communion, lectors, ushers & greeters, music ministry and adult altar servers. It is also open to all parishioners, especially those who would like to spend some time in prayer with us and for those who have been praying about whether the Lord is calling you to serve. We will discuss important procedures to follow so it is very important that EVERY parishioner who serves at weekend Mass is present for this event....
