The Knights of Columbus call upon us to remember and pray for Christians all around the world who are being persecuted for their faith, some to the point of torture and death. In many regions of the Middle East, like Syria and Iraq – even in the Holy Land itself where the Christian faith was born – there are fewer and fewer Christians. Churches are destroyed, priests and religious are exiled, and families barely escape with their lives. On this weekend at each Mass, we will pray for our persecuted brothers and sisters, we pray for their safety and wellbeing as we ask the Lord to keep them strong in our holy Faith. The Hawaii Catholic Conference has produced messages from Bishop Larry Silva discussing our opposition to the new law on assisted suicide that went into effect January 1, 2019. See the video.
Our parish has only one chalice used at Mass each day. Because it is used so often, it is showing lots of wear and we would like to order a brand new chalice to be used primarily on some weekends and for special Masses during the year, like Christmas, Confirmation Mass, etc. In the photo above you will see the chalice we would like to purchase: the cost is $821. A parishioner may purchase this chalice in memory of a loved one. Interested? Call the parish office at 487-2414 x21. Mahalo.
