Religious Education, grades K - 5

Purpose: Religious Education provides for the religious formation of the youth of the parish and includes preparation for the sacraments of Holy Communion and Confirmation. Religious Education needs teachers, classroom aides, and assistance in special activities such as retreats and community-building gatherings. Licensed teachers are not required, but individuals should be open to attending diocesan teacher education classes and workshops to enhance their knowledge of their faith and Church teachings.

All teachers and aides must also attend in-service workshops and meetings. A Student Handbook is provided with a schedule. Elementary grades (K-5) are on Saturday mornings 8:30am to 10am.

Roles: Teacher (Chatechist), Classroom Assistants and Administrative Assistants

Requirements: No experience necessary! Teachers must be confirmed, practicing Catholics with willingness to attend classes and training sessions to improve understanding of the Catholic faith, as well as enhance teaching methods. Must also be willing to work towards the Basic Certificate of Catechists (tuition covered by parish)

The religious education of our children is one of the most vital functions of our faith community. Please be open to God’s call to this special ministry and answer the call with a commitment for at least one year of service. Safe Environment and background checks are mandatory for volunteers.
