The Knights of Columbus will sell car magnets, a great way for all of us to remind ourselves and others to keep the Lord Jesus at the center of our Christmas celebration. Oil candles will also be sold and can be used on your Advent wreath or as part of your seasonal decorations. Funds will be used to fund the Knights' activities in support of the church: providing soup & bread during Lent, awards given in recognition of Knight-sponsored contests like the soccer and basketball challenges, poster contests, etc., and supplies for breakfasts and fish dinners. Thanks for your support.

    December 16-24
Simbang Gabi is a Filipino Christmas tradition introduced by the Spanish friars to allow the farmers to hear Mass before going to the fields early in the morning. In our church we will have a series of nine 5am Masses December 16 through December 24, with the exception of Sunday, December 22, when we have our scheduled 6am Mass. We will maintain our regularly scheduled weekday 7am Mass except for Tuesday, December 24. Click HERE to see the daily calendar for the month of December.

The Consecration to the Holy Family allows for each family to devote themselves to ideal model of familial love set by Jesus, Mary and Joseph. In recognition of this special feast day, the Knights of Columbus invite each family to pick up a Consecration to the Holy Family prayer card during Masses the weekend of December 21-22, saying the prayer with the family each day of the week leading up to the following weekend. In addition, you may decide to fast from something for the week leading up to the feast day weekend.

This year will feature guest speaker Kainoa Fukumoto at this 9am Mass. He is the founder and president of EPIC Ministry, the largest Catholic community of young adults in the Diocese of Honolulu, and also the principal of St. Michael School in Waialua. Mr. Fukumoto will speak on “Millennials and Their Impact on Church and Government.” Bishop Larry Silva will be the Principal Celebrant. The Red Mass has been a tradition in Hawaii since1955. Customarily celebrated each January, the month when the state legislature opens, this public liturgy is the church’s prayer to the Holy Spirit for wisdom and guidance for our islands’ public servants.

We are so grateful to all our parishioners and friends who support our parish. Click HERE to give your offering or tithe online. It really is easy, fast and secure. Mahalo, good stewards.

Bishop Larry Silva’s “Bishop’s Circle” letter will be headed for your mailbox sometime over the next couple of weeks. This year, his particular concern is “priests” — specifically, our priests. “They make a special commitment,” he writes, “especially given the demands of ministry and the complexity of leading a parish in today’s world. As we ask our priests to handle a myriad of responsibilities in building the Kingdom of God, we also have a duty to care for them,” the bishop says, “from the early days of nurturing their vocation, and covering their seminary education, through their pastoral ministry, and after decades of service into their golden years.” Read more...

Many people want to read the Bible because they know it is God’s Word, but they give up because it seems so complicated. Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible helps you get the “big picture” of the Bible by showing how fourteen narrative books of the Bible tell the complete story from Adam and Eve to Christ and the Church. Join Val and Deacon Gary for this exciting Bible study 9am to 10:30am Thursdays in Conference Rooms 1 & 2. Registration fee is $30 and includes your personal work book and reflections. For more information or to register, send email to Val Streff at valstref@gmail.com or to Deacon Gary at gstreff@rcchawaii.org.

We are called to EVANGELIZATION, to bring our Faith to the world, to convert our culture back to one that respects the presence of God and His call to holiness. Get more information and details at Word on Fire.
