    This is the feast day of the Missionary Sisters of Mary Help of Christians. You are invited to celebrate the 5:00pm Vigil Mass with the Sisters on May 23rd at St. Pius X Church (2821 Lowrey Avenue, Honolulu). A pot-luck will follow.

    Bishop Larry Silva has announced that, effective July 1, Father Sam will be assigned to St. Theresa Parish, Mountain View (Big Island) and Deacon Romple Emwalu, who will be ordained to the priesthood May 17, will be assigned to our parish. We will certainly miss Father Sam and we warmly welcome Father Romple and his ministry among us. A combined Farewell to Fr. Sam and Welcome to Father Romple is scheduled for Saturday, June 29, at our regularly scheduled 5pm Mass. A reception will follow in the parish hall. All are welcome!

    In 1633 the Oberammergau villagers in Belgium promised to perform the suffering, death and resurrection of Christ every tenth year, in so far as no one was to die of the plague anymore. The villagers were answered by God and therefore in 1634 the first Passion Play took place. The promise has been kept until today.
